Petersburg

General.    This community has so far resisted the lure of large cruise ships and has retained a strong Norwegian connection from it's early beginnings. It  is still heavily involved with the fishing industry.

Approach.    There are no off-shore dangers here other than the possibility of icebergs in Frederick Sound or strong currents in Wrangell Narrows.

Anchoring.    The Harbour Master is available on VHF and will assign you a berth if one is available.

Points of Interest.   This is a nice friendly town and makes a change from the tourist driven economies that characterize most other Alaskan cities. Fuel and water are available.
