Sharatin Bay

General.    This makes for a pleasant, quiet anchorage to time the tide for Whale Passage which is about 3 nm away. It would not be suitable if a north wind was blowing.

Reported.    June 2004 by Fine Tolerance

Charts.    NOAA 16594.

Approach.    There are no hidden off-shore dangers here when keeping near the track shown. The rocks NNW of Three Pillar Point are covered  2 meters, the rocks N of the grass covered islet near the centre of the bay are covered by 1 meter. All else is clear water.

Anchoring.    Very simple. Just run in until you are comfortable about the depth and drop the anchor. We anchored at 57 44.4'N     152  18.2'W. in 9 meters, mud. At low tide a large tidal flat appears at the head of the bay.

Points of Interest.   Wildlife watching. We had a number of sea otters swim around the boat while anchored in this bay.
