Windham Bay

General.    This anchorage is described as indifferent in the pilot book and as Entrance Island is just south of here and Tracy Arm just north this bay must be overlooked by many, however, it is a very nice detour if you are not in a rush to get anywhere.

Reported.    September 2003 by Fine Tolerance

Charts.    NOAA 17363.

Approach.    There are some small wooded islets in the centre of the entrance to this bay. You can pass on either side of these islands. There is quite a current that runs in the narrows that lead into the inner part of the bay. Transiting this narrow part both in and out we came across playful seals.

Anchoring.    The shallowest place we found was off the ruins in 20 meters. You will need to be careful of the large flats to the south.

Points of Interest.   The old ruins of Windham at the head of the bay. There are no cabins in this bay and other than the ruins it shows no signs of civilization.
