Bay of Islands

Beverly Cove   Fisherman's Cove   Unalga Bight

General.    A true gem. There are many places where one can anchor within these protected area.

Reported.    August 2003 by Fine Tolerance

Charts.    NOAA 16467,  large scale chart NOAA 16474.

Approach.    There are a couple of entrances to this bay. Both are wide and easily negotiated but you will need the chart to get into here. There are many rocks at the entrances that lead into the Bay of Islands and although there is plenty of room you need to be alert and sure of where you are.  Once inside anchorage places are pretty near unlimited and depending on where the wind is coming from will dictate where you will drop your anchor. We anchored in three places while there.

Anchoring.    Beverly Cove   Fisherman's Cove   Unalga Bight
